The Matchwomen Dr Louise Raw

Another Lit look at life as it once was. Back to late Victorian times and the first demonstration of a united front of workers against employers and made by women. This was in 1888 when the ‘matchwomen’ at Bryant and May - who had to handle phosphorus every day - stood out against working conditions that underline why we have such strict health and safety regulations today.

Louise is co-author of the book Striking a Light.
